Twelve days of ecommerce. Day 6: Stockholding and shipping

5 Jan

It is surely every ecommerce entrepreneur’s dream to spend a couple of hours a day on-line, logging on from a sea-side cafe with a WiFi connection, moving money around and updating the “specials” before strolling back to the beach for some scuba diving. And that is largely possible… except when it comes to handling stock and shipping.

Twelve days of ecommerce. Day 5: Picture and product photography

24 Dec

We have previously looked at the importance of maximising the content detail of your product and service descriptions to help with your ecommerce site rankings on search engines. Twelve days of ecommerce. Day 3: Show me the money

21 Dec

How does the money get from your customer’s bank account to your bank account?

When you sell on your web site you can choose to collect money by invoice, bank transfer, COD etc (or even direct debit). But most on-line store owners opt for payment by credit card. When a customer buys something off your site, their credit card is debited and your on-line payment account (PayPal, WorldPay, SagePay etc etc) is credited. So payments accrue in your on-line account and then need to be transferred to your bank account.
